Dear Cougar Families,
We have officially completed our first week of school, and what a great start it has been! The halls are full of energy, classrooms are buzzing with learning, and it has been wonderful seeing both familiar and new faces around Ansbach Middle High School.
Our Back to School Bash on the first day was a terrific way to kick off the year. We were excited to have so many parents join us as we welcomed students back, introduced our teachers and staff, and heard remarks from our Garrison Commander. After the assembly, families, students, and staff had the chance to spend time together, make connections, and visit with representatives from the USO, PTSO, and the School Liaison, Mrs. Qay. Events like these remind me how fortunate we are to be part of such a supportive school community.
As I walked through the building this week, I was impressed by how quickly our students settled into their routines. They have been respectful, engaged, and eager to start the year strong. Our teachers have done a wonderful job creating welcoming classrooms where students can learn, grow, and feel connected.
I am also grateful that the weather has finally cooled down a bit. The building has been much more comfortable, making it easier for everyone to focus on the important work of teaching and learning.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership. We are off to a strong start, and I am excited to see all that our students will accomplish in the weeks and months ahead.

School Policy Reminders
📱Smart Devices (phones, watches, etc.) powered off in lockers from 0800-1500 daily
✅Attendance – parents excuse absences by calling main office between 0800 and 1000 daily on the day of the incident.
⏰Tardy Policy – resets each quarter; does not include excused tardies (i.e., late bus or parent-provided reason).
- 3 tardies = 1 detention
- 4 tardies = 2 detentions
- 5 tardies = double detentions; parent conference
- 6+ tardies = potential consequences include SST behavior contract, loss of privileges, additional detentions, and/or suspension

Reminder: Illness Policy & Cell Phone Expectations
A Quick Reminder for Families: Student Illness & Cell Phone Use
We know that when students aren’t feeling well, their first instinct may be to reach out to you right away. To help us support students and keep everyone safe during the school day, we ask that all students follow our established procedures.
If your child is feeling ill while at school, they should report to the Nurse’s Office or Main Office so they can be properly evaluated. If it’s determined that your child needs to go home, the nurse or office staff will take care of contacting you directly.
As a reminder, cell phones are not permitted at school between 0800–1500, and students should not use personal devices to contact parents during the school day. If a student needs to call home for any reason, they are always welcome to do so from the front office.
We appreciate your help reinforcing these expectations with your child. Please note that violations of the cell phone policy is subject to disciplinary consequences in accordance with school policy. Thank you for partnering with us to ensure a smooth, safe, and supportive school day for all students.

Career and College Readiness:
We have four Schoolinks Schoolwide Learning events. Schoolinks is DoDEA’s Career and College Readiness Platform. This is where students explore careers, plan courses for coming years, record accomplishments and awards, apply for college and so much more. PARENTS have you claimed your Schoolinks account? Our goal is 100% participation from parents. Through your account you can view everything your students are doing in Schoolinks, including resume, favorited careers, course planning for coming years, and their post-secondary plans. The platform also provides resources based on your student’s age and information. If you haven’t yet claimed your account please do so ASAP. Below is link for instructions:

Students who enroll in Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) schools are required to meet specific immunization requirements. These requirements represent the minimum requirements and do not necessarily reflect the optimal immunization status for students.

School Procedures
DoWEA School Dress Code
Students MUST wear:
- Tops with sleeves (sleeveless tops/dresses are permitted for school sponsored formal events such as prom)
- Solid clothing (not transparent or translucent) that fully covers the top and bottom from armpit to mid-thigh
- Shoes (shoes must be safe for the school environment)
- Bedroom slippers shall not be worn, except for school activities approved by the principal
- Open toe shoes with a strap across the heel are allowed
Students CANNOT wear clothing with:
- Language or images promoting violence
- Language or images that depict, promote, or advocate the illegal use or sale of drugs, alcohol or tobacco products; violent conduct; curse words; pornography; that contain threats or expressions which are violent, discriminatory, lewd or obscene; or that advocate or promote any other illegal item or activity or the use of same
- Derogatory speech and/or imagery that targets groups based on race/color, ethnicity/national origin, sex, sexual orientation, disability, religion, or any other characteristic protected by law.
- Headgear that obscures the face (except as a religious observance or health purpose); clothing items with hoods attached can be worn but must not cover the head
* Teachers/courses can require certain attire as part of the curriculum (for example: physical education, culinary) that may include specific dress
* DoWEA issued athletic uniforms and athletic practice attire outside of the DoWEA school dress code is permitted when worn by participants during athletic practices and sports events
